Some of Instagram’s users have come across not the best surprise due to the fact that app of Instagram went down and it was unbelievably long loading time over 50 last minutes. Some people suppose that the reason is that Justin Bieber shared with his 14 million followers a photo of his ex-girlfiend Selena Gomez at the Oscar party. This photo caused craze rumors amongst his fandom that they are back together and probably is a reason of traffic spike stoppage.
By calling the downtime Bieber’s fault, I mean that due to the fact that his followers are so active and attached to their pop-idol that they have caused unexpected floods of attention which could knock out web services. If it is true, it deserves high praise. But we still do not have any proves that Bieber have something to do with this Instagram’s app problem.
Instagram confirms the stoppage was affected by users, but mentioned it didn’t seem that it was Bieber’s guilt. They didn’t name any other reasons. But let’s face the truth it is hard to believe that the company would blame it on a pop-star on-the-record.
In a statement to TechCrunch, an Instagram speaker declared “We do believe in a blissful reunion of two America’s sweethearts, there is no reason to think that Justin Bieber’s recent Instagram post influenced on the website slowing down this morning. Nevertheless, a small number of people were affected and we are very sorry for the inconvenience.”
The stoppage appears in a week after another one big blaming on WhatsApp of Facebook that came across long hours of loading time caused by “server issues”. Nevertheless, today there has not been any notification posted by Twitter, Facebook or Instagram’s blog.
But at about 7:54 am PST Instagram users started tweeting “Is Instagram Down?” Some users said that everything came to norm at 8:15am, but some said that they are not able to load their photos or feed.
If we still suppose that Bieber is somehow responsible for this stoppage, no matter what Instagram says, one can easily understand the influence on web traffic that celebrities have. In the past there were record labels and movie studios that could light a “star”. But now thanks to social networks and powerful content everyone can get millions of followers and fans, even though it might be people of certain interests, age or nationality, in the Internet.
